The front door of the Public Works Building received a new canopy in December. The original canopy had outlived its usefulness.

The steel framework for the new construction used materials that the Public Works Department salvaged from the Dominick’s distribution building prior to demolition. The trusses became available due to the supplier’s mistake when the roof was ordered for a park pavilion, resulting in an extra 1/2′ of a roofing system. The supplier told the City to keep the extra material at no charge rather than shipping it back. As you can see, the trusses were put to good use along with the salvaged steel.

Public Works crews will demolish the existing concrete and pour new concrete in the spring which will make the entrance to the Public Works building ADA compliant.
