Review by Jeanie Pavichevich

A delightful evening at Northlake’s beautifully renovated City Hall took place on February 1 of this year. Friends and residents of Northlake were treated to a premiere stage performance of A.R. Gurney’s “LOVE LETTERS” starring professional and award winning actors Patti Paul and Philip Earl Johnson. Patti and Phil are both local artists whose careers have spanned the globe with stage, TV and film acting. Their portrayal of Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, whose relationship is based on letters they exchanged, is a compelling story of love, trust and friendship. The full house applauded, laughed and shed tears as Melissa and Andrew poured out their hearts and most intimate feelings to each other through letters that spanned fifty years. It was a joy to experience Northlake’s first live Theatre Production and from the audience reaction, this, we hope, will be the first of many!

Executive Producer, Darlene Sherwin, our first lady of Northlake, wishes to thank Francine Patti, Joanne and Doug Floistad, Holly and Mark Allen, Hannah Allen, Haley Allen, Shane Allen, and Kassidea Allen for helping with sets and Opening Night. A big thanks also to Vic Pilolla, Annalisa Jamnik and Hannah Allen from West Leyden High school for Lighting and Technical assistance.

Kudos and a great deal of gratitude to actors Patti Paul and Philip Earl Johnson who gave generously of their time and talent to grace our stage with their professional acting talent. They provided a night of theatre that all of us will remember.

Mayor Jeffrey Sherwin, a dedicated patron of the arts, helped to design and build sets and provided support for the entire show. The City of Northlake offers its’ residents many activities, services and entertainments. With the addition of live Theatre at a reasonable price, our community remains number one!

We look forward to future Theatre Productions for the pleasure and enjoyment of Northlake residents, family and friends. See you at the Theatre!
