You may recall that in August, 2010, a burglary suspect was shot and killed by Northlake Police. He was caught burglarizing a home on Armitage during daylight hours and was pursued to Haber Court where he was cornered. The suspect was high on cocaine and drew a knife, stabbing officers. At this point, he was shot by police. Relatives of the perpetrator filed a wrongful death suit against the City, the Police Department and officers in 2011. The case went to trial in August of this year and the jury found in favor of the City on August 7, 2014.

The findings of the jury in favor of the City is a testament to the training and professionalism of the members of Northlake Police Department who face danger on a daily basis protecting the residents of our community.

The next time you have a chance to speak with one of our police officers, please thank them for their service and dedication.
