Cleaning and Maintaining our Beautiful Parks
Each
park in the City of Northlake is visually inspected every day. Public
Works is also responsible for the planting of flowers and foliage in the parks
and around the City. Each year Public Works plants 350 flats of flowers in the
summer. It takes 4 laborers and approximately 4 days to plant the flowers
throughout Northlake.
Northlake City Bus
The
Public Works Department is equipped with two buses to offer free bus
service to our residents. The bus is available from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday, (except holidays) and will take you anywhere in Northlake you
wish to go. Although the bus will not wait for you while you shop, visit, etc.,
you may call the bus again when you wish to be picked up. Additionally, the bus

Holiday Decorations

seen hanging lights in the trees and banners from the light posts. This
Christmas season the individual lights displayed around town total 12,000!
Senior Grass Cutting and Snow Plowing
Northlake
offers a program to our Senior Citizens and disabled residents
called the Grass Cutting Program as well as the Snow Plowing Program. Those
persons who are interested in the program must sign up each year to be on them.
For a nominal fee, the Public Works Department will mow your lawn during the
summer months and in the winter after a 2" snow fall, your driveway will be
plowed. This program is designed to help Seniors or those with disabilities who
have no one else living with them to mow the lawn or shovel snow. Each new
person signing up for the program must have a note from their doctor stating why
he/she is unable to mow the lawn or shovel snow.
