MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE HELD ON OCTOBER 18, 2006
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 P.M.
PRESENT: CHAIRMAN STORCK ALDERMAN DUNNE ALDERMAN RIESTERER
ABSENT: ALDERMAN GROCHOWSKI ALDERMAN PATTI
ALSO PRESENT: DEPUTY NORMAN NISSEN
Chairman Storck presented the minutes of the September 13, 2006 meeting. Alderman Dunne made a motion to accept the minutes of the September 13, 2006 meeting; seconded by Alderman Riesterer. Chairman Storck called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The minutes were approved.
Under Unfinished Business. Chairman Storck presented the update traffic study on Golfview. Everything is in place now. Alderman Dunne asked if the residents were notified of the changes that will be made. Chairman Storck said that they were notified. This is being done on a trial basis to see how traffic flows. The street was narrowed down to one lane.
Next, Chairman Storck brought up the dog bite ordinance. The ordinance has been changed but not approved yet. Chairman Storck said that Pet Smart has certain tags that can be used for the tagging of biters. They are color coded so we can use them for whatever we want. These would be issued to the owner and the dog would be required to wear it on its collar. We need to stipulate the wearing of the collar with the tag in the ordinance. He will get some tags and show them at the next meeting.
Under New Business, Chairman Storck presented the tent ordinance O-5-2002. The tent has to be 15 feet behind the front of the house. It can only be erected for no more than 14 consecutive days. A resident said that his tent is in front of his garage behind his fence. It is not in his front driveway. He keeps his race car under this tent. This resident wants to pay a permit fee to keep his tent up. The tent has to be in good condition also. Chairman Storck wants to look at this tent. Alderman Dunne said that we have to be careful about issuing permits because this would be a whole other area of law enforcement for the police department. Chairman Storck tabled this until the next meeting, which will be in approximately 2 weeks. He will notify this resident of the next meeting.
Next, Chairman Storck talked about the RV/Boat Parking. This will also be tabled until the next meeting. Alderman Dunne made a motion to table both of these ordinances; seconded by Alderman Riesterer. Chairman Storck called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried.
There being no further business, Alderman Dunne made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Riesterer. All were in favor.
MEETING ADJOURNED APPROXIMATELY 6:29 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Joanne Floistad City Clerk
