MINUTES OF THE FINANCE & RULES

COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

HELD ON MONDAY, JUNE 15, 2009

 

 

MAYOR SHERWIN CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 6:30 P.M.

 

Clerk Floistad called for the roll.

 

ROLL CALL:

The committee reviewed the minutes of the June 1 2009 meeting.  Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 1, 2009 meeting; seconded by Alderman Delgado.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The minutes were approved.

 

Mayor Sherwin presented the Invoices Over One Thousand Dollars. Alderman Delgado made a motion to approve; seconded by Alderman Patti.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

Mayor Sherwin presented the Warrants and Vouchers.   Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Grochowski.  Alderman Padilla asked if we are still paying for the crossing guards.  Mayor Sherwin said that we do pay a portion for District 87.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor. The motion carried.

Mayor Sherwin presented Ordinance O-19-2009; An Ordinance Revising Ordinance O-16-2009 Authorizing the Issuance of not to Exceed $12,500,000.00 General Obligation Variable Rate Demand Bonds (Taxable), Series 2009 of the City of Northlake.  An explanation was given about this bond.  Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-19-2009; seconded by Alderman Feldmann.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

 

Mayor Sherwin said that the Shell Gas Station on Mannheim would like to extend their Retail Liquor Sales hours.  Our current hours are until 12:00 midnight.  The gas station states that other businesses on Mannheim have later hours.  West Central gave us a partial survey and the hours are all over the board.  The committee agreed to leave the hours as is.

 

Mayor Sherwin talked about our Mosquito Abatement.  He said this will run for several years.  Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement for Cooperative Mosquito Abatement; seconded by Alderman Riesterer.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor. The motion carried.

 

Mayor Sherwin brought up the Truck Park Tax.  He said that we do not have to act on this tonight, but the tenant would like to know what the sentiment of the City Council is.  The council feels that any money is better than no money and we should decrease the tax.  The council would also like to include the area behind All Stars in this.   

 

There being no further business, Alderman Patti made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Delgado.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.  The motion carried.
