 CORECTED MINUTES OF THE FINANCE & RULES

COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

HELD ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2009

 

 

MAYOR SHERWIN CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 6:40 P.M.

 

Clerk Floistad called for the roll.

 

ROLL CALL:

The committee reviewed the minutes of the November 16, 2009 meeting.  Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 16, 2009 meeting; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. There was one correction.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The minutes were approved.

 

Mayor Sherwin presented the Warrants and Vouchers.   Alderman Grochowski made a motion to pay the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Delgado.  Alderman Patti asked about the bill for laptop repair on squad 906.  She said we could by a new one for that amount.  Chief Koletsos said the squad laptops are special computers and they cost a lot more. Alderman Feldmann asked about the bill for the Shell Station on Mannheim.  Mayor Sherwin explained that part of the annexation agreement was that we would refund their sales tax every year and this is the refund.  This amount will decrease every year over a five year period.   Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor. The motion carried.

 

Mayor Sherwin presented the Commission Expenditures.  Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the Commission Expenditures; seconded by Alderman Delgado.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

Under New Business;

 

Mayor Sherwin presented Resolution R-19-2009, A Resolution Authorizing the Acquisition of Property Commonly Known as 58 East North Avenue in the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois.  We were able to purchase the property for $165,000.00.  We will close on the property before the end of the year.  Alderman Padilla asked what our plans are for this property.  Mayor Sherwin said we do not have any concrete plans yet but we will secure the property for now.  Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-19-2009; seconded by Alderman Delgado.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve Resolution R-20-2009, A Resolution Accepting a Bid from Patnick Construction, Inc. for the Armitage Water Main Project; seconded by Alderman Riesterer.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-28-2009, An Ordinance for the Levy and Assessment of 2009 Taxes Paid in the Year Beginning January 1, 2010 and Ending December 31, 2010 for the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois and State of Illinois; seconded by Alderman Grochowski.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried. 

 

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-29-2009, An Ordinance Adopting the Annual Budget for Calendar Year 2010 for the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Riesterer.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

Mayor Sherwin talked about Ordinance O-30-2009, An Ordinance Increasing the Number of Class B-2 Liquor Licenses and Amending Section 3-3-4-6 of the City Code of the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois.  This is to accommodate Walgreens.  Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-30-2009; seconded by Alderman Grochowski.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve the renewal of our Workers Compensation Insurance; seconded by Alderman Riesterer.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.  The motion carried.
