MINUTES OF THE 1,357th MEETING OF
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE
HELD ON MONDAY MAY 18, 2009
The regular meeting was called to order at 7:10 P.M. Mayor Sherwin asked everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.
ROLL CALL:

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 4, 2009. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 4, 2009; seconded by Alderman Riesterer. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

APPOINTMENTS/RE-APPOINTMENTS AND OATHS;
Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Delgado. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO PAY THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED
REPORTS OF THE STANDING COMMITTEES:
Alderman Patti said that the Public Safety and Public Works committee met on May 6, 2009. Tonight we are only going to accept the minutes from April 1, 2009.
On May 6th, the committee revisited the solicitor’s ordinance. The committee is waiting for a response from West Central Municipal Conference.
Also discussed was the P|.O.D.’s ordinance. Chief Koletsos is going to discuss the removal of the POD with our City Attorney.
The committee discussed the signage along North Avenue. Alderman Patti said they will have a meeting with the businesses on North Avenue to get their ideas on how these signs can be regulated so we don’t have several different kinds of signs along North Avenue.
The next meeting for the Public Safety and Public Works Committee is scheduled for June 3, 2009.
Alderman Straube made a motion to accept the Public Safety and Public Works Committee meeting held on April 1, 2009; seconded by Alderman Delgado. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
MOTION TO ACCEPT THE PUBLIC SAFETY
AND PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD ON APRIL 1, 2009 CARRIED
Mayor Sherwin received a compliment from a resident while attending a function at West Leyden, about how nice Northlake looks and that everything gets taken care of right away. Mayor Sherwin thanked the Police Department and Public Works Department.
Alderman Grochowski said he attended the Creekside Clean up event. Around 20 people cleaned up the area from Diversey down to Wolf; down to Grand and along all the side streets. They did a very nice job. Alderman Grochowski said he spoke to several Creekside residents and they are very pleased with everything that is going on there. They had a few recommendations that Alderman Grochowski will discuss with the Mayor. Alderman Grochowski toured a couple units that are being updated and they looked very nice.

The raffle for the Northlake Days Beer Booth took place. Northlake Baseball won the raffle.
Mayor Sherwin opened up the discussion to the public.
Alderman Straube made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss real estate and personnel at 7:18 p.m.; seconded by Alderman Riesterer. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
MOTION TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION CARRIED
The meeting reconvened at 7:35 p.m.
There being no further business Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Riesterer. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
