CORRECTED MINUTES OF THE 1,365TH MEETING OF

                                                                           CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE

                                                                                  HELD ON MONDAY OCTOBER 5, 2009

 

 

 

The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M.  Mayor Sherwin asked everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance.  Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

 

 

ROLL CALL:

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on September 21, 2009.  Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on September 21, 2009; seconded by Alderman Feldmann.  Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. There were a few corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.

 

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 21, 2009

CITY COUNCIL MEETING CARRIED

 

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the Public Hearing on the Proposed Creation of Special Service Area Number 2 and Levy of Special Taxes Therefore for King Arthur Condominium Building 35 held on Monday, September 21, 2009; seconded by Alderman Grochowski.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Delgado.  Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO PAY THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

 

 

 

Alderman Patti said that the Public Safety and Public Works Committee will have a meeting on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 6:00 p.m.  Mayor Sherwin said that he has been getting some complaints on boats and recreational vehicles parking in front of the house.  He would like the committee to look into this matter and see how serious this situation is.

 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS;

 

Mayor Sherwin brought up Ordinance O-25-2009, An Ordinance Establishing Certain Hours for the Sale of Alcoholic Liquor and Amending Section 3-3-5-3 of the City Code of the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois.  This ordinance was amended by the Finance and Rules Committee to change the language from 12:00 noon on Sundays to 10:00 am on Sundays.  Alderman Padilla made a motion to approve Ordinance O-25-2009; seconded by Alderman Patti.  Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE

COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS CARRIED

 

 

 

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve Ordinance O-26-2009 An Ordinance Deleting Class D-1 Liquor Licenses, Increasing Class D and E Liquor Licenses and Amending Section 3-3-4-6 of the City Code of the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Patti.  Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the hiring KRW Consulting Group for the Remodeling of City Hall; seconded by Alderman Riesterer.  Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE THE HIRING OF

KRW CONSULTING GROUP FOR THE

REMODELING OF CITY HALL CARRIED

 

Mayor Sherwin opened up the discussion to the public.

 

Bobbi Phillips, 421 N. Prater spoke about parking violations.  She does not like the trucks that pick up scrap.  She does not want to look at this next door to her. He does not get violations.  She wanted to know if we have any ordinances against this.  Mayor Sherwin said that our ordinance allows pick up trucks and box trucks, up to a certain size, to be parked in driveways as long as they are parked behind the front line of the house.   Mayor Sherwin stated that we could tweak the ordinance to say the truck must belong to the people who live there.  Mayor Sherwin directed this to the Public Safety and Public Works Committee.  Chief Koletsos said that his department has written many tickets to this address.     

 

Alderman Straube made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss real estate and personnel at 7:12 p.m.; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor. 

 

MOTION TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION AT 7:12 CARRIED

 

The meeting reconvened at 7:24 p.m.

 

 

There being no further business Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Riesterer.  Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.  All were in favor.
