he purpose of Public Education Programs is to educate the community about fire prevention and overall Fire/Life Safety.
The Northlake Fire Protection District’s Public Education area offers the following programs:
- First Aid/CPR Programs: This is a two-class session. Held on
Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at the fire station. These classes are held every other month.
Cost of class is $25.00
(materials included). If you are renewing your card, you only need to
attend the second session class, cost is $15.00 (hand out and card included).

- Blood Pressure Screening: Need your blood pressure checked? Stop in weekdays between the hours of
9:00am to 5:00pm.
- Fire Station Tours: Tours of the fire district are available Monday through Friday for groups of
pre-school age and older. Tours are scheduled one week in advance and are typically a half-hour in duration.
Please contact the Fire District to schedule a tour.
- School Visits: The Firefighters visit area schools to teach and reinforce safety and fire prevention principles.

- Juvenile Fire-Setter Intervention: If you know of or have a child that is playing with matches or fire,
the Fire District has a certified Juvenile Fire-Setter Specialist to answer questions and assist with the problem. Infant and Child Safety Seat Installation: The Fire District has a certified technician for the installation
of infant and child safety and booster seats. To be effective in the case of an accident the safety seats must be
installed correctly. Please call to make an appointment to have your child's seat installed or inspected.

- Fire Prevention Week Open House: Each year the Fire District hosts an Open House to coincide with Fire
Prevention Week. This event is well attended by the community. Smoke Detectors are available free of charge to Northlake
Residents along with door prizes, refreshments and activities. Throughout the day the Firefighter's are available to
discuss life saving safety and rescue techniques and provide information. A duck race was added to the list of activities in 2003. Two hundred and fifty rubber ducks were let
loose in the creek behind the fire station with prizes going to the winners. All activities
and refreshments are free to the public.
- Blood Drive: The annual Robert Steiner Memorial Blood Drive is held in conjunction with our Open House in
October. This is an excellent opportunity to join with the District in saving lives through the all-important gift of
donating blood.
